Small Travel Memories of Artist Shwe Thein

Small Travel Memories bu Artist Shwe Thein

This exhibition is named “Small Travel Memories” and it features 55 pieces of extraordinary oil paintings by Artist Shwe Thein. The dimensions of the paintings in this show are merely 9 inches by 11 inches yet the brilliant work of artist proves that size doesn’t matter in painting when it is perfectly balanced and well presented in chosen dimensions.

The landscape series in this exhibition may appear flat in first glance but when look in details, the brilliant use of colours to enhance the shapes and distinguish the forms is delightful to see. In his signature artworks—the boat series— the semi abstract style invites you to keep staring at the painting for a long time. The combination of bold colours and strong brushworks is another satisfying factor of Artist Shwe Thein.

I had an opportunity to write for an exhibition held at the gallery I was attending my acrylic painting class. When my teacher who’s also the gallery owner approached me with a chance to write for one of the upcoming exhibition in his gallery, I gladly accepted it. He sent me a few of the paintings to be displayed and I wrote based on those painting. I did some research on the artist, as well. I only wished I had a chance to meet with the artist and discussed on the exhibiting pieces so that I can express or represent better in the writing.

The event information can be seen on the gallery’s Facebook Page.
